History of Sex Toys Ⅲ----Condoms
To understand the history of condoms, we need to go back 3,000 years ago to ancient Egypt, where the earliest prototype of condoms is said to have appeared, an ornament called "penis condom", wearing a penis condom out, is considered a symbol of wealth and status.
Ancient myths and legends from the side to confirm the existence of ancient condoms, it is said that the semen of the cursed Minos contains snakes and scorpions, in order to protect his sexual partners, Minos used the bladder of a goat to make a female condom.
More than 1,000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians began using the bladders or appendixes of animals such as goats and pigs to make condoms. From that time, condoms were used to protect against diseases and infections. In the Dordogne region of southern France, condom paintings dating back to more than 100 A.D. have been found in the Combarillos caves, which are considered to be the earliest evidence of condom use in Europe.
At the end of the 15th century, Columbus discovered the New World, while sailors also brought syphilis from the Americas back to Spain, syphilis spread in Europe. 1597, in order to prevent the spread of the disease, the Italian doctor Faropis invented a condom made of linen condoms, and the use of condoms in 1,100 men in the experiment, none of them were infected with syphilis.
The modern condom dates back to the 17th century in England. Condom, the royal physician to King Charles II of England, was inspired by the swollen fish bladder and used it on his penis to prevent women from becoming pregnant, and presented this "invention" to Charles II, which became known as the "delightful invention" that gave rise to the modern condom. This explains why the condom is called "Condom" in English. Since then, the fish bladder condom has been improved by using a softer and thinner lamb's appendix, and by a special process, its shape is close to the modern condom.
In 1919, the natural latex condom and the accompanying automatic production line appeared, making condoms much less expensive and increasingly popular. These condoms aged more slowly, were thinner and stronger, while being odorless and popular.
At the beginning of World War I, condom use was not promoted, resulting in the tragic diagnosis of up to 400,000 cases of syphilis and gonorrhea within the U.S. military. It was not until the 1930s that the U.S. government finally broke through the moral and legal barriers and began to promote condom use nationwide. At the time, the fifteen largest condom manufacturers in the United States were producing a total of 1.5 million condoms per day.
In the early 1960s, condom production as a contraceptive device declined due to the impact of the contraceptive ring epidemic. However, as people became more aware of HIV and AIDS in the 1980s, the production of condoms as a safety tool increased significantly again. Condoms have become an important way to prevent HIV transmission and have played a pivotal role in people's lives, gradually becoming an indispensable part of everyday products.
At the end of the 20th century, condoms were added to the list: in 1992, the female condom was launched in Europe and approved by the FDA in 1993; in 1994, the world's first male-oriented polyurethane condom was introduced; colored condoms and fruit-flavored condoms were also created.
In the last few years, the thickness of condoms has been significantly reduced due to technological improvements. In addition, condom manufacturers have begun to realize that the same size condom does not meet the needs of different customers, which is why today there are different shapes, widths and lengths of condoms. It is the variety of condoms that has made the condom market so vibrant and dynamic.
